A Rainbow Wedding

Last night my table was completely covered in parchment laden with a rainbow of melted chocolate hearts...I should have snapped a photo of that! It made me smile, just looking at it. So then this morning began with the delicious aroma of carrot cake and sweet vanilla cake baking up into lovely little cuppies for this display. I piped them with vanilla buttercream (the pink was raspberry vanilla...mmm), edged them in sparkly sugar, and adorned each with a colored chocolate heart. The brides waited patiently until last to be dressed in their sugary gowns, ready to walk down the aisle--er, throat--and live happily ever after!

Good friends give you chocolate cupcakes on your birthday.

Oh, isn't there just a freshness about spring that makes you want a cupcake? Dense chocolate cake with chocolate-coconut frosting, classic vanilla cake with fresh lemon frosting, and moist carrot cake with vanilla-almond frosting were all on the menu this weekend.

Welcome, baby!

This baby shower cake was delicious to design and create...babies and cake just go so well together! This was classic vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream frosting, covered with fondant. The decorations are buttercream, gumpaste, melted chocolate, and fabric ribbons.

Thanks, Deanna!

Beer cupcake? Hmmm....
Actually a carrot cupcake with cream cheese filling and vanilla buttercream.
Much yummier.

My family was delighted to learn that we were having cake for supper...and tickled to discover that it was meatloaf and whipped potatoes, with a savoury vegetable filling! Thanks, FamilyFun, for the great idea.
It was actually delicious, even if it was a bit Fifties housewife-ish.
Yum.

Jen, you might even have liked it a bit!

Who says turning 50 isn't fun?
