VW Van Retirement
My kids' amazing primary teacher retired in January, and I got to do the cake for the party. It was last minute, but lots of fun! The cake was dark chocolate cake with chocolate filling, covered in smooth vanilla buttercream.
Nova Scotian Autumn Wedding Cupcake Tower
Ooooh, I just realized that one of my favourite cupcake towers hasn't been posted yet!
Imagine my surprise when I met the bride-to-be for our tasting and consultation, and discovered that we had gone to school together! It was lovely to see her, and to get to be a part of her beautiful celebration.
The theme for the cupcakes was very Nova Scotian, with a mix of Sweetiecakes signature locally-inspired flavours including:
True Bluenose: vanilla cake with fresh blueberry buttercream
Annapolicious: moist apple cake with vanilla buttercream
Oak Island Booty(licious): red velvet cake with chocolate buttercream and gold dragees
Each cupcake was labelled so the guests could choose their flavour(s) easily! The top cake and cupcakes were adorned with sugarpaste fall-colored leaves that I created to match the paper leaves scattered in the centre of each table.
Skatepark, dude!
This vanilla birthday cake for one of my favourite four-year olds was frosted with vanilla buttercream, and the top was covered in fondant for the wood look of the half-pipe. Doing the graffiti on the sides was cool...I felt kind of rebellious and scribbled away with reckless abandon :)
Alex's mom added a grinding rail to the top and a couple of techdeck skateboards before serving. Right on!
Winnie the Pooh
A yumbly-in-your-tumbly birthday cake for a little girl who loves Pooh! I found a photo of a cake online that gave me this idea, and I had so much fun with the design...thanks to Jen who helped me get just the right hue for the icing "paint' for the shading. This was vanilla cake covered in smooth vanilla buttercream frosting.
